Montevideo, Uruguay | The superclásico between C.A. Peí±arol and Nacional Montevideo finished in a goalless draw Sunday, but viewers watching live across Latin and North America could share vicariously in pre-game confetti storms and a first-half red-card imbroglio at Estadio Centenario, the site of the first FIFA World Cup final in 1930. Peí±arol, or “El Manya,” maintained its historic edge in the series, having won 67 times to Nacional’s (“El Bolso’s”) 49. There have now been 62 draws. The biggest derby match north of the Rio de la Plata features los manyas, traditionally identified with the poorer immigrant strands of Uruguayan life, and Nacional, which on its founding in 1899 adopted the red, white and blue of nationalists led by José Artigas.
