Artist Ruth Franklin of Decatur, Georgia—the Global Game's hometown—submits from East Anglia the fifth photo-contest winner. Unidentified England supporters in Norwich appear hopeful before the penalty-kick phase in the quarterfinal versus Portugal on 1 July 2006. After managing to convert just one of its spot kicks, however, England again crashed out of a major tournament. Writes When Saturday Comes (Aug 06):
Franklin is a studio artist represented by Decatur's Vinson Gallery. Her work has featured previously in Left Wing, the Global Game's Web log.
About the contest: Take a picture and win a T-shirt. Could it be easier? The Global Game offers one (1) of its football shirts to the winner of an ongoing football-themed photography contest. The photograph selected as best representing the place of football in daily life will be featured on the Global Game website; in addition, the winner will receive a shirt from our online store. E-mail your entries as attachments (JPEG format, 500 KB or less), along with name, address, T-shirt size and style, and description of your photograph, to firstname.lastname@example.org. Only one entry per person will be accepted; previous winners not eligible. The contest is worldwide: we welcome entries from Albania to Zimbabwe.
